There’s been a lot of hype about the future of the workforce, with the notion that robots and AI will be taking everyone’s jobs away. But this is a misunderstanding. The role robotic products and AI have in relation to humans is much less foreboding than someimagine. In reality, they actually give humans the opportunity to excel with the mundane workload taken off their plate.
When we look at AI, what we are working with today is the start of a much more sophisticated capability. Just like humans have evolved, so will AI. And it will become much more sphoisitcated as its machine learning develops. Great examples of where AI can be of help is with natural language processing, speech recognition, chat bots and so on. You may have heard of ChatGPT — well that’s a perfect example of an AI powered chat interface that reponds to the questions asked.
If we mix AI with automation, then the repetitive tasks and activities that don’t require a lot but some thinking, are very regular and required to perform a task can be adapted and handed off to a “bot” to do them instead. This can lead to less time spent doing the boring stuff and free people up to explore new work and tackle different problems which in turn increases employee satisfaction.
