Day one of SXSW Interactive 2014 is coming to a close. Our teams have been on the ground as well as looking at social data coming in to see what created a stir, and what people are anticipating. Check out what we found.

SXSW Interactive hit the ground running thanks to Social Media Today’s #SocBizShakeUp breakfast panel. The panel focused on ways companies can build their own socially-engaged workforce and utilize big data in social media. At the Social Business Shake-Up website, SXSW attendees can vote on what they think is the biggest social shake-up—Analytics, Collaboration, Customer Connection, Innovation, or Security.

The most talked about celebrity on Day 1 of SXSW Interactive wasn’t Austin Kleon or Anne Thompson. In fact, she’s not even human. SXSWi attendees went wild for the return of the world’s unhappiest feline—Grumpy Cat. Setting sail aboard the S.S. Holy Shrimp, Grumpy delivered 25,000 Friskies’ shrimp flavor meals to the Friends of Austin Animal Center, followed by a meet and greet at the Mashable House.

Even if you’re not in Austin, you can still take part in the action. Friskies is donating up to 25,000 additional meals for every use of the #HolyShrimp hashtag on social media platforms until March 9. So far, the hashtag already has over 2,600 mentions on Twitter.

Which party are people most interested in hitting tonight? That’s still a mystery—at least on social media. No single party has really stood out from the pack when it comes to mentions. But the weekend is just getting started, so stay tuned for more updates on what’s hot in Austin.
