Breakout Sessions
Principal and Global Salesforce Alliance Lead Paul Clemmons kicked off the morning moderating a panel featuring folks from MuleSoft, CloudCraze, Forrester and Deloitte Digital. The topic was “Building the Future Platform” and they discussed how to maximize cloud-based services to improve time-to-market, establish scalable lightweight apps, and reduce costs. Paul explained that it's not just about software and tools, it's about being able to deliver the whole ecosystem to clients. We’re on board with that.
Next, we checked out Center for the Edge Director John Hagel’s talk on business model evolution in the digital era. Together with Mia de Kuijper and futurist Peter Schwartz, they discussed the myriad of opportunities around changing business models. What does business model evolution even mean, anyway? Consider payment models – should you pay for usage? Impact? Value? We should start focusing on building long-term relationships, not on the current transaction.

Always a fun DD-sponsored event is the annual Women in Tech event, this year at the Four Seasons. This year, renowned artist DL Warfield joined us to talk about his inspiring story. Growing up in the Midwest with many odds against him, DL rose to the top through his creative talent, sheer motivation, and through the mentorship of others. By never giving up on himself, and finding inspiring mentors, DL worked his way up to becoming a creative director, starting his own company and showing at Art Basel. DL coined the hashtag #fairytechwomen, to inspire the next women in tech. See his work here.
