This three-part series written in collaboration with Anaplan explores how organizations can overcome marketing planning challenges and drive measurable growth by uniting marketing, finance, operations, sales and more. In part 3, we look at the success and impact of modern, connected, collaborative marketing.
Moment of truth: Integrated marketing planning results
Parts 1 and 2 of this series explained how integrated marketing planning solves common marketing challenges and explored Deloitte Digital’s plan, execute, measure approach through the lens of the fictional company Innovidiam. Part 3, below, shows the results of a campaign that used Deloitte Digital’s integrated marketing planning tools and processes.
Campaign progress report
Six months after Innovidiam’s XC-Global year 2 campaign launch, the global team gathered again for a mid-campaign progress report.
This time, the atmosphere was noticeably different. Instead of scrambling to assemble slides and reconcile numbers from disconnected spreadsheets, real-time dashboards of standardized KPIs helped guide which information to highlight for the broader group.
Confident in the consistency of data across all departments, Sara asked a new finance director, Sam, to represent finance in the presentation. Sam picked up the integrated marketing planning solution quickly and worked with Taylor and Jarvis on the presentation, which took just a few days to build and polish.
Learning from the discussion during the year 1 progress report meeting, the team revised the content of the one-slide summary to reflect:
Engagement, optimism, collaboration
The presentation was engaging and optimistic due to the great performance and shared confidence in data accuracy. Many participated in an impromptu roundtable discussion—not about missing data, but about next steps and new ideas. Leaders from sales, finance and marketing all contributed and reflected on the dramatic improvements:
The progress report transformed what was once a dull readout or troubleshooting session into a strategic conversation focused on growth and innovation.
Unlock growth with integrated marketing planning
By implementing integrated marketing planning, Innovidiam turned their reporting process from a time-consuming chore into a powerful tool for collaboration, transparency and decision-making. The team now had the confidence that every campaign dollar was tracked, every outcome was measured, and every department was aligned on what success looked like.
Though Innovidiam isn’t real, the experiences described above are similar to our clients’ journeys to integrated marketing planning.
