Belk, a collection of more than 300 department stores that celebrate the modern Southern lifestyle, had previously committed to a mobile presence with a mobile website, m.belk.com. But they knew that in order to fully engage their audience, they had to do more. They asked Deloitte Digital to develop an iPad app that did just that.
Deloitte Digital worked with Belk to create an experiential “look book” that inspires users to create personalized looks while exploring current styles and trends. As the user scrolls through a multi-dimensional parallax environment, social elements such as Pinterest and Twitter update in real time, and imagery overlaps with typography. The result is an experience that plays off of Belk’s “Modern. Southern. Style.” aesthetic.
It’s not just an elegant, engaging app; it’s also hard working. We developed a custom API that made it easy to transfer Belk’s proprietary data to the new app. Likewise, catalog delivery—a key touch point for Belk—was built in, with the ability to update catalogs dynamically through a suite of administration tools.
